EMDR Therapy

In addition to counselling, I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people process and recover from distressing life experiences and traumatic memories. Sometimes difficult experiences can become "stuck" in the brain, causing ongoing emotional distress, anxiety, negative beliefs about ourselves, or symptoms that seem difficult to overcome through talking therapy alone.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, alongside a structured therapeutic approach to help the brain reprocess these experiences in a healthier way.

EMDR may be beneficial for people experiencing:

  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Childhood trauma
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Low self-esteem and negative self-beliefs
  • Phobias and fears
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship trauma
  • Workplace stress and bullying
  • Distressing or overwhelming life events

EMDR is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD.

Clinical Supervision

Alongside my counselling practice, I provide clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists and professionals working in helping roles. I work with the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet in 1985.

Clinical supervision is a collaborative professional relationship that supports practitioners to reflect upon their work, develop their skills, maintain ethical practice and ensure the best possible outcomes for their clients.

Supervision provides a safe and supportive space to:

  • Reflect on client work
  • Explore therapeutic relationships and processes
  • Develop professional confidence and competence
  • Consider ethical issues and dilemmas
  • Enhance self-awareness
  • Monitor professional wellbeing and resilience
  • Meet professional body requirements

I offer supervision for:

  • Qualified counsellors and psychotherapists
  • Counsellors in training
  • Support workers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Social care practitioners
  • Other professionals working in emotionally demanding roles

My approach to supervision is supportive, collaborative and developmental, creating a space where practitioners can feel both challenged and encouraged in their professional growth.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake further training to ensure that my practice remains current, ethical and effective.

Couples Counselling

Relationships can face many challenges throughout life. I provide a supportive and balanced environment where couples can explore difficulties, improve communication, rebuild trust and develop a deeper understanding of one another.

Whether you are experiencing conflict, communication difficulties, trust issues, the impact of an affair, or feeling disconnected from one another, couples counselling can provide an opportunity to better understand your relationship and explore ways of moving forward together.
